Ice Mc – Take Away The Colour

While he grew up on the streets of Nottingham, breakdancer-turned-rapper Ian Campbell aka Ice MC only rose to prominence following a surprise meeting with Italo-disco-turned-Italodance legend Roberto Zanetti aka Savage/Robyx in 1989. He became one of the stars of Italian Eurodance, initially through a tweaked take on hip-house and later via a sound more rooted in the bouncy, trance-influenced style that dominated European commercial dancefloors in the early-to-mid 90s. 'Take Away The Colour', which here returns to wax for the first time in over three decades, dates from 1993 and sees Campbell deliver dancehall style verses over a typically stomping groove, elastic synth-bass and leaping synth stabs. As well as the radio mix, we get the two key dancefloor versions: the superior 'HF Mix' and the more riff-ready 'VCF Mix'.
