Berlin-based Californian Steve Huerta can boast a signature sound that crosses sub-genres, with nods to deep house and tech-house sat side by side with sturdier, rave-igniting missives and a healthy dose of classic progressive house-influenced late-night psychedelia. On Huerta's latest missive for his own Leizure imprint, he starts in predictably trippy fashion, wrapping weirdo noises, mind-mangling effects and tweaked organ licks around a thickset and funky tech-house groove ('Disel Funk'), before dropping the deliciously d bass-heavy tech-house/deep house fusion of 'Average Tricks'. 'Myths Untold' is more spacey, melody-rich and tactile, while closing cut 'Distant Planes' is a fine chunk of deep after-hours hypnotism.
