Review
On their fourth album, People of the Moon - the Italian duo's first full-length for four years - Nu Genea's Lucio Aqualina and Massimo di Lena have decided to subtly tweak their familiar and much-loved signature sound. So while the analogue-rich colour, jazz-funk references and Mediterranean post-disco grooves remain, they're complimented by more exotic instrumental choices, intoxicating vocals and stylistic nods to Indian musical culture. It's an impressive and consistently excellent glow-up, with highlights including the languid, sun-splashed cosmic jazz-funk of 'Acelera', the Afro-cosmic-goes-to-Dehli excellence of 'Ouleza', the Balearic bossa of 'Celavi', the jaunty jazz-rock of 'People of the Moon', and the stoned, samba-soaked headiness of 'Shway Shway'.
