Fresh from a run of releases on Shadow Pressings, DJ Split makes his bow on The Trip's Tesselate label. The producer is known for the nostalgic nature of his productions, which frequently reference the formative years of the sound in the mid-to-late-80s and early 90s. He hits the ground running on opener 'Action Classa', where echoing spoken word snippets and tight organ stabs cluster around a bold bassline and jacking, Chicago-style drums. 'Body Go Ah' is a deeper and dreamier number propelled forwards by squelchy acid bass and colourful nods to early Italo-house, while 'Simp U' sits somewhere between NYC proto-house and early Larry Heard deep house jams. To round off the EP, The Trip rework 'Body Go Ah', retaining Split's killer bassline while adding more layers of wide-eyed dancefloor nostalgia.
