Wilba – Party Tools 3.0

There's a refreshing honesty to Fraise's ongoing Party Tools series. There's no attempt to cloak their intentions in hipster-friendly speak or musical references to currently hyped styles, just DJ-friendly jams aimed squarely at causing pandemonium out on the dancefloor. The series latest missive comes courtesy of label founder Will Owen aka Wilba. Opener 'Blast Blast' is a bombastic chunk of rolling, bass-heavy madness that sits somewhere between formative speed garage, tech-house and bumpin' US house, while 'Crazy Ro' is a loose-limbed deep house roller marked out by ghostly chords and fluid tech-house bass. On the flip, Owen fuses late 80s acid house nostalgia with 21st century tech-house tropes ('Strobelights'), before opting for a dubby and intoxicating take on deep house ('Deeper On Paper').
