Wilba – Kombucha in the Club

Label newcomer Wilba pops up on esteemed Welsh imprint Haws, with the Fraise Records founder bringing with him "heavyweight tackle built for the small hours". This early morning-ready sound first manifests itself on 'Wrong Turn', where creepy minor key melodies, ghostly chords, ethereal vocal snippets and tight acid lines wrap around a chunky, bass-heavy hoyse groove. 'Poly's Acid Kiss' is a raw, trippy and pleasingly heady chunk of acid house/deep house fusion, while 'Sin City' is a bouncy, mind-mangling sprint through hybrid deep house/early 90s progressive house territory. That bleeping and druggy workout is followed by closing cut 'Rejigging The Jig', where spacey, tech-tinged deep house dreaminess is given a swinging, New Jersey garage-house spin (and some very early Warp style deep space bleeps).
