Various – Mind Trip EP

Review:
Given the title, you'd expect the four tracks featured on EP to tend towards the spacey and trippy. That's certainly the case with Subjoi's opener "The Way I Feel", where heartbreaking soul vocal samples, bleeping synth motifs and humid electronics wrap around a sturdy deep house groove. DJ Psychiatre's rich and heady "Our Love is Real" sits somewhere between original Italian dream house and more soulful U.S deep house, while Slim Hustla's blissful, garage-influenced "Ghostryda" is so overwhelmingly cheery that it feels like the audio equivalent of an overdose of anti-depressants. To round off a fine package, Gut Instinct layers formidably dreamy synth motifs on top of a tough-as-teak groove.
