The Coastal Commission, Jesse Outlaw – On The Rocks / I’m Underground

The re-born Pacific Coast House label continues to dive ever deeper inrto its archives of early 2000s West Coast house gems. The two tracks showcased here have never been released on vinyl before, though main man Sam Robson AKA Coastal Commission did include them on a now sought-after 2005 mix CD. His own 'On The Rocks', a pleasingly chunky, percussion-ruich, dubby and dreamy chunk of immersive Californian deepness, sits on side A, with Jese Outlaw's 'I'm Underground' on the flip. This is a touch breezier and sparser, arrangement wise, with pulsing pads and echoing spoken word snippets riding a weight, dub-wise bassline and sturdy deep house beats.
