Soul Of Hex – Jet Set

Review: A warm welcome back to Mexican siblings Soul of Hex aka brothers Gerardo and Emmanuel Cedillo, a duo who notched up releases on Freerange and Delusions of Grandeur before stepping away for a break in 2024. They re-emerge on Ryan Elliot's Faith Beat label, bringing with them a quartet of killer cuts. Opener 'Jet Set' is a warehouse-ready, turn-of-the-90s house slammer rich in classic vocal samples and excitable synth stabs, while 'Power Twice' is a deeper and lightly spaced-out affair rich in echoing samples, alien synths and rolling beats. The open side B with the similarly nostalgic but more bumpin' deep house flex of 'Feel The Power of Love', before channelling the spirit of dark dancefloors at 4am on the hypnotic and locked-in 'Ritual'.
