Rewind: It's 2003. The world is experiencing peak funky house fever and the levels of premium filtered high grade house coming from France is at an all time high. Then young disrupter - freshly signed to Defected - Martin Solveig cuts through the noise with a rock-influenced sound that segue dancefloors into a much more eclectifc, shuffled-addicted digital era. Having already established himself with the more Afro-centric side of French house alongside artists such as DJ Gregory years before, this was a very sharp direction change in his sound and the energy he had at the time can still be felt in this reissue today 23 years later. 'Rocking Music' hits with a disco funk vibe thanks to the loose slapping bassline (and a killer remix from Dave Lee) while 'Everybody' hits with a rock funk energy you'd expect from bands like The Heavy and hit with a swing that not even the Freestylers could match at the time. One of Solveig's finest moments.
