Joey Bada$$ – 1999 (2×12″)

Joey Bada$$’s 1999 remains one of the standout hip-hop projects of the early 2010s. Released when he was just 17, the mixtape introduced a remarkably mature voice, combining sharp lyricism, smooth flows and a strong appreciation for the golden era of New York rap. The production is packed with dusty samples, soulful loops and laid-back boom-bap beats that perfectly complement Joey’s delivery. Tracks like “Waves,” “Survival Tactics” and “Hardknock” showcase his ability to switch between thoughtful storytelling and raw street energy. What makes 1999 special is its timeless atmosphere: it feels rooted in classic hip-hop while still sounding fresh. This LP is essential listening for fans of lyrical rap and one of Joey Bada$$’s defining releases.
