DJ Rush – Get On Up

Review: Chicago's finest DJ Rush, one of the earliest human fertilisers of the Chicago house scene (for which a city's proper name came to christen an entire genre), returns with a fresh take on his classic 'Get On Up'. After an already hard-driving remix EP on Pro-Jex which landed eight years ago, this yet-another rerub proves that the chuckling, get-up-and-go force of the original has not lost a single ampere's worth of traction; Thomas Schumacher's version pumps it into peak-load techno territory at 143 BPM, layering driving rhythms over Rush's signature overpressure-funk sound. This release also marks the first official remastered issue of the original track in two decades, notably slowed to a considerable 69 BPM, and presented on a limited edition 12" picture disc.
