J-Zbel explored such crossovers with articulate enthusiasm, while others have made passing gestures to the breakbeats (The Pilotwings’ “Congo Libre”) and gnarled surfaces (“Sonar System” by Basses Terres and Fugal) that emerge from splicing hardcore’s DNA.
