Alexandra Stan – Mr. Saxobeat

Review: Second time around for Romain dance-pop star Alexandra Stan's 2010 global smash 'Mr Saxobeat', a tongue-in-cheek tribute to the type of men who mod their "hot hatchbacks" and fit them with booming car stereos. The original radio edit, where Stan's infectious, hooky vocals ride house-influenced dance-pop beats, jaunty synth loops and swirling electronics, is here accompanied by two versions by the team behind Romania's Maan Studio. There's the 'Extended Mix', which adds a jaunty sax riff and a touch more sweat-soaked dancefloor grunt while retaining the full vocal, and the arguably superior 'Studio Mix', which foregrounds the sax antics, makes the groove a little more 'disco-house' in feel, and generally adds more polished and layered production.
