Abdul Raeva – Passion de la Passion

Review: Estonian duo Abdul Raeva kick things off for Physical Education in 2023. Marking the label’s first release of this year, Passion de la Passion is a four-track excursion into the outer realms of tech house, acid and everything in between. The Caballero Thrust Programme initiates proceedings, doing exactly what it says on the tin. Much like a rocket launching, tribal drums open into a slinky synth pattern, before acid-flecked pulses take us deep into starry, spaced-out territories. Karima’s Duff Duff is of a similar ilk, rolling with a telltale rhythm. Techy, synthy and built for the late night hours, we journey through celestial bleeps at pace, opening the door for Ooga Booga Acid Time.
