Swin – Canny Records 001

Swin's 2024 debut EP on Portuguese label Magic Carpet was a high-quality affair, so hopes are naturally high for this belated sequel on freshly-minted imprint Canny Records. Opener 'You & Me' offers a neat summary of the producer's signature sound - think chunky bass-heavy deep house mixed with the futurism and deep space sonics of formative UK tech-house. Swin continues in this vein on the even deeper, darker and more dub-flecked flex of 'Move', before once more exploring the more intergalactic end of the dance music spectrum on spacey deep house delight 'The Deep End'. Closing cut 'Postcards', meanwhile, is dubby, dreamy and otherworldly in equal measure. Smart stuff from a genuine rising star.
