Rhyw – Honey Badger

Voam’s 10th EP is as wonderfully idiosyncratic as the previous nine which have very much helped establish this as a label worthy of your attention. It comes from RHYW and kick off with the malfunctioning machine sounds and broken rhythms of ‘HoneY Badger’ which is about tripping you out and keeping dance floors all disoriented. ‘Sharknado’ is heavily textured and caustic, with visceral drums and perc flashing about the mix and ‘Kirkhusa’ then gets down and dirty with a sleazy vocal and more minimal rhythm, but plenty of bass. The unique ‘Foamcore’ closes with another mad flurry of energetic drums and hits that are impossible to define and just as hard to ignore.
